Last Monday was the day of my 36th birthday, the third here in Austria.
I take this opportunity to thank again all those who have done me good wishes, and live, either by mail or on Facebook.
The celebrations were not great, but I spent a nice evening with some friends whom I thank for their participation. We have "closed" a couple of local area universities, then go here to conclude the session to the student. Luckily I did not have work the next morning, late afternoon because I was not in perfect condition.
The best gift, as my brother pointed out to me, I did Juventus beat Inter on Sunday night. I know it's probably the only satisfaction we'll have this year, given the many shortcomings of my team, but it's better than nothing.
How "real" gift, I had considered buying an electric guitar that sold a guy here close to home, but then I decided to give up, even if I find an apartment because I will take money for rent and other to furnish it.
In today's post, we talk about a curiosity about the Austrian people: the titles.
"securities" means all those abbreviations that may precede the name like Mr., Mr., Dr. ....
In Italy are certainly used a lot, but here are crazy!
The first funny thing is that the title "Mr." is acquired finished high school in technical, such as accounting. Several characters in "questionable" do not hesitate to write on business cards, plaques and even identification documents or the like. A graduate, however, can boast of many titles as "Mr. Bak," "Dipl Ing", "May", up to antics such as "Dr. Med Univ et Scient. Med. From some talks with Austrian friends I made in this regard, it seems that the people of a certain age have great respect for those who performed such securities, and in some cases even receive favorable treatment from the train inspectors, police, employees municipal.
Imagine if we are interested in something if a policeman is a graduate in Political Science or Economics. But the best is yet to come: If a woman with a middle school is lucky enough to marry one of these mega-style doctors Fantozzi, automatically acquires the title! So, can claim to be called doctor or something. It is not a lie, I guarantee. Then, in addition to academic qualifications, there are others that are acquired with the seniority and, of course, there are also people who are proud of them. I am not here to make examples, but if you want to get an idea, there is an entire section of the website of the Austrian government that deals with this ( http://www.help.gv.at/Content.Node/173 / Seite.1730000.html ). I was also told that there are whole books on the market that deal with the topic, but I do not think we'll lose on so long. Maybe I will try to marry a girl with more possible titles, so I could afford a ticket to luxury touring.
Finally, I want to signal the opening of a new restaurant in center, run by an Italian friend: Vinothek Lerch .
In reality it is a reopening, as the club has existed for many years, but it was closed for some time. It can be reached by passing under an arch that 'one of the pedestrian streets of the center. The location is very nice, built inside an old building with vaulted ceilings and wooden floors. The wine list is respectable and the restaurant also offers several hot and cold dishes, among which the excellent ham (the current operator has been for years the head of a Prosciutteria always here in the center, so I understand the sector). So far we have gone only 3-4 times for a drink, but soon I will give a good meal. The restaurant also features a beautiful courtyard, which in summer would be spectacular. Take a look at the panoramic pictures on the site, to get an idea.
